Understanding Oxycontin Withdrawal
Your body adjusts to the constant presence of OxyContin by modifying brain chemistry levels. You will feel like you function best when you’re using the drug.
Stop using abruptly, and your brain and body need time to recalibrate. This period of recovery is withdrawal.
Even people using OxyContin per a doctor’s orders can experience withdrawal. For example, doctors say people using opioids in a hospital can experience symptoms if they stop after just five days of constant use.
OxyContin withdrawal symptoms include the following:
Anxiety
Diarrhea
Excessive sweating
Goosebumps
Hot flashes
Insomnia
Muscle cramps
Nausea
Vomiting
Watery eyes and nose

Today, we'll delve into the intricacies of laxative use, discussing what to expect and how to manage potential side effects.
Understanding Laxatives:
Laxatives are a common over-the-counter remedy for relieving constipation. They work by promoting bowel movements, but like any medication, they may come with side effects that vary from person to person.
Common Types of Laxatives:
Bulk-forming Laxatives: Increase stool bulk for easier passage.
Stimulant Laxatives: Trigger contractions in the intestines to move stool.
Osmotic Laxatives: Draw water into the intestines to soften stool.
Common Side Effects:
Diarrhea: One of the most common side effects, laxatives can lead to loose and watery stools.
Cramps and Abdominal Pain: Stimulant laxatives may cause cramps as they stimulate intestinal contractions.
Dehydration: Osmotic laxatives can lead to fluid loss, potentially causing dehydration.
Electrolyte Imbalance: Prolonged use of laxatives may disturb the balance of essential electrolytes in the body.
Dependency: Regular use of laxatives can lead to the body becoming reliant on them for bowel movements.
Managing Side Effects:
Stay Hydrated: Counteract the dehydrating effects by drinking plenty of water.
Balanced Diet: Ensure a diet rich in fiber to promote regular bowel movements naturally.
Limit Use: Avoid prolonged and excessive use of laxatives to prevent dependency.
Consult a Healthcare Professional: If side effects persist or worsen, seek advice from a healthcare professional.
Precautions and Considerations:
Before using laxatives, it's important to consider certain precautions.
Underlying Conditions: Individuals with certain medical conditions should consult a healthcare professional before using laxatives.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should seek guidance from a healthcare provider before using laxatives.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, while laxatives can be effective for managing constipation, understanding their potential side effects is crucial. By being aware of what to expect and taking necessary precautions, individuals can use laxatives responsibly to achieve digestive relief.

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension and anginal chest pain. It acts to inhibit or “block” the voltage-gated L-type calcium channels, reducing vasoconstriction and promoting vasodilation to lower blood pressure. However, due to this mechanism, amlodipine can cause a wide variety of side effects, which we discuss in this lesson.

Clozapine is the most effective of all antipsychotic medications. And for many people with schizophrenia, clozapine is a game-changing treatment that makes it possible to go back to school, go back to work, live independently, or be in relationships.
It does have side effects (all medicines do), but many of them can be prevented or minimized.
Sedation is one of the most common of clozapine’s side effects, and this lecture talks possible causes and potential treatments for clozapine-associated sedation.
Here, we look at the prevalence of clozapine-associated sedation, discuss pharmacological actions of clozapine that may contribute to sedation, and survey some treatment strategies to reduce or eliminate this side effect.
If you’d like to learn more about clozapine, feel free to register for one of our free online continuing medical education events.
