#nexplanon #birthcontrol #nexplanonreview #birthcontrolimplant #nexplanonproblems

Birth control is something that seems taboo to talk about but it’s something that needs to be discussed. Doctors keep highly recommending implants and other birth control options that could be effecting our mental health AND physical health. Make sure you fully research a birth control option before deciding to get it. I tried researching the nexplanon before I got it and there were no negative reviews to be found until AFTER it was already in my arm! I really hope this helps someone decide not to get this implant. I wish I could have found a video like this before getting mine. I also forgot to mention in this video that I also experienced fatigue, hair loss, and complete loss of sex drive.
I spoke to my doctor about the sex drive issue and she blew it off completely... saying that’s just what happens after you have a baby.

As I am writing this 5 days after I had the nexplanon removed I can confidently say that the majority of symptoms I was experiencing with the nexplanon have gone away. I am feeling better, more energetic, and happier than I have been in the last 14 months.

Please comment with your experience with the nexplanon or any other birth control to help others decide on what birth control options are best for them.

Let’s start a discussion! Let’s help each other!

Nexplanon with Family Medicine Specialist Dr. Paul John

http://bestdocsnetwork.com/austin/paul-john/

Patient Caitlyn was on different types of birth control. She found it was a struggle to remain consistent taking them, and also experienced negative side effects. She ended up talking with Austin area Family Medicine Specialist Dr. Paul John about her problem, and he prescribed her a new birth control device called Nexplanon. Nexplanon is a very small elastic tube device that only needs to be replaced every three years. It slowly releases a hormone over the course of those three years, allowing the patient to free themselves from the burden of taking a pill every day.

Contraceptive (Progesterone) Implant - Uses, Mechanism Of Action, Adverse Effects, Contraindications
Contraceptive (Progesterone) Implant - Uses, Mechanism Of Action, Adverse Effects, Contraindications Side Effects 0 Views • 1 month ago

Contraceptive implant, is a popular form of long acting, reversible contraception.
It is a rod that contains the hormone etonogestrel, a type of progesterone.
The rod is intended for subdermal implantation in the non-dominant hand, as you can see in this picture.
Once in place, it prevents pregnancy for about 3 years.
Progesterone implant can be removed at any time according to the woman’s desire.
Once removed, the fertility returns to normal within a couple of weeks.
It is indicated for contraception in nulliparous women, adolescents, and breastfeeding mothers.
In addition, it can be used as a contraceptive in the post-partum period as well.
It prevents conception by three mechanisms.
It inhibits ovulation by interfering with the hypothalamic pituitary ovarian axis.
It also causes thickening of cervical mucus, which makes it harder to the sperms to penetrate.
In addition, it causes thinning of the endometrium, which makes it unfavorable for implantation of an embryo.
Contraindications for progesterone implant include, pregnancy, Liver disease, including cirrhosis, and liver tumors, breast cancer, Unexplained vaginal bleeding, And allergy or hypersensitivity to progesterone implant.
Pregnancy rate with the implant is around 0.05%, which is slightly lesser than that of the intra uterine contraceptive devices.
Common adverse effects of the contraceptive implant include the following.
Menstrual irregularities.
Absent menstruation, or Amenorrhea.
Breast tenderness.
Mild weight gain.
Acne.
Headache.
And abdominal pain.
Finally, the contraceptive implant can cause mild to moderate pain, that will disappear within a few days.

Niacin has many benefits, but is a niacin flush harmful or dangerous? Here's what you need to know.

0:12 What is a niacin flush?
0:28 What are prostaglandins?
1:10 What you need to know about niacin

Today we're going to talk about the niacin flush and if it's dangerous or not. The answer is no. I do not believe the niacin flush is harmful or dangerous.

With a niacin flush, you're getting massive relaxation of the muscles inside your blood vessels (vasodilation). This occurs because niacin releases something called prostaglandins.

Prostaglandins are lipids or fat compounds that have a hormone effect. Prostaglandins increase vasodilation, help reduce blood pressure, and help blood clotting. Prostaglandins are also involved in headaches and fevers.

Niacin has been used therapeutically for over 50 years, and it is the most effective natural agent for increasing your HDL (the good cholesterol). It can also decrease LDL (the damaging LDL) and triglycerides. The keto diet and intermittent fasting may also help with a person's cholesterol.

A person concerned about their cholesterol may need to take niacin in higher amounts (1000-2000mg per day). Keep in mind the type of niacin that is non-flushing doesn't have cholesterol-lowering benefits. Niacin may also potentially help reduce schizophrenia.

Both niacin and niacinamide chemically work similarly but have different benefits.

Niacin:
• Gives a flushing response
• Has lipid benefits
• Helps lower cholesterol
• Helps lower LDL
• Helps increase HDL
• Helps decrease inflammation in the arteries
• Supports a healthy liver
• May help with schizophrenia
• May help with drug-induced dyskinesia

Niacinamide:
• Won’t cause a flush
• Helps with certain skin conditions (acne, dermatitis, rosacea, and psoriasis)
• Helps lower histamines
• Helps reduce immune inflammatory factors
• Helps decrease flaking skin
• Helps reduce sebum
• May help reduce inflammation
• May help with arthritis
• Is used for anti-aging

If you’re deficient in niacin (vitamin B3), you may have some strange symptoms. Find out how to spot a niacin deficiency and what you can do to fix it!

DATA:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/p....mc/articles/PMC90325

0:00 Introduction: Niacin deficiency symptoms
0:25 Subclinical symptoms of a vitamin B3 deficiency
1:41 How to fix a niacin deficiency
2:05 Benefits of niacin
3:50 Foods high in vitamin B3
4:39 How do you become deficient in niacin?
6:18 Learn more about zinc!

In this video, we’re going to talk about niacin deficiency symptoms. If you have a niacin deficiency, you might experience the “4 D's”: dermatitis, diarrhea, dementia, and even death.

Subclinical symptoms of a niacin deficiency include the following:
• Loss of taste
• Metallic/rancid taste in the mouth
• Loss of smell/change in smell
• Face moves when you look in the mirror
• Words move when you read
• Unstable or moving ground when walking
• Fatigue
• Inability to relax

You need large amounts of niacin to address a deficiency. You can take either niacin or niacinamide.

Niacin is a precursor to NAD, which helps extract electrons from foods. This allows you to get more energy from the food that you eat.

Vitamin B3 helps support something known as sirtuins, which support longevity and DNA repair. L-tryptophan can convert to niacin, serotonin, and melatonin!

Niacin is very beneficial for skin health and conditions like acne and psoriasis. A niacin deficiency can cause very dry, scaly skin.

The form of niacin known as niacinamide can help with inflammatory conditions like arthritis. Niacin also supports healthy levels of LDL and HDL cholesterol. It was very popular before the development of statins.

Animal protein and organ meats are the best sources of niacin. You can also get niacin from spirulina and nutritional yeast, but look for nutritional yeast that does not have added synthetic vitamins.

There is a tremendous amount of research on niacin and cholesterol, the heart, and mood disorders like schizophrenia, depression, and bipolar disorder.

A diet high in ultra-processed foods can lead to a niacin deficiency. Pregnancy, alcoholism, Covid-19, and certain medications can also contribute to a niacin deficiency.

Understanding The Pharmacology Of Nifedipine
Understanding The Pharmacology Of Nifedipine Side Effects 0 Views • 1 month ago

Video transcript :-
Nifedipine is an anti-hypertensive medication belonging to the class of dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers.
It primarily acts on vascular smooth muscle cells to cause vasodilation.
Major indications of nifedipine include the following.
In the treatment of hypertension and hypertensive emergencies.
Angina pectoris.
For Raynaud’s phenomenon to reduce vasospasm in peripheral arteries.
And as a tocolytic agent in preterm labor to inhibit uterine contractions.
Nifedipine works by blocking L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle cells, which causes arterial vasodilation.
This in turn reduces systemic vascular resistance and thereby the blood pressure.
In addition, nifedipine action causes reduced myocardial oxygen demand, which benefits angina patients.
Unlike non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers such as verapamil and diltiazem, nifedipine has minimal direct effect on cardiac conduction.
Nifedipine is taken orally.
Both immediate release and extended-release tablets are available.
Sublingual and intravenous routes are less commonly used.
Nifedipine is well absorbed into the body with an oral bioavailability of 45 to 75%.
Once in blood, it is highly plasma protein bound.
The drug is extensively metabolized in the liver by CYP3A4 enzyme.
It is mainly excreted as metabolites in the urine.
Major adverse effects of nifedipine include the following.
Cardiovascular effects such as hypotension, reflex tachycardia, especially with immediate release formulations, and peripheral edema due to capillary leakage and vasodilation.
Neurological effects such as Dizziness, headache, and flushing.
And gastrointestinal effects such as nausea and constipation.
Absolute contraindications for nifedipine therapy include the following.
Severe hypotension, where systolic blood pressure is less than 90 millimeters of mercury.
Cardiogenic shock.
And acute myocardial infarction.
Relative contraindications include Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.
Severe aortic stenosis, as vasodilation can cause severe hypotension.
And hepatic impairment, which may prolong drug action.

21:13 Conclusion

Discover the essential insights into Nifedipine, a potent calcium channel blocker utilized for managing high blood pressure, preventing heart diseases, and alleviating chest discomfort due to angina. Delve into its mechanism, dosing guidelines, potential side effects, and vital precautions to optimize your health outcomes.

Nifedipine, under brand names like Adalat and Coracten, is a prescription medication primarily aimed at treating hypertension. Its mechanism entails blocking calcium entry into heart and blood vessel muscles, leading to muscle relaxation, widened blood vessels, and enhanced blood flow, thus easing the heart's pumping task. This action not only lowers blood pressure but also ameliorates angina symptoms by improving oxygen supply to the heart.

Starting your Nifedipine regimen? It begins working from day one, though it may take a few weeks to manifest full effects. Regular intake is crucial even in the absence of symptoms, as Nifedipine continues to combat hypertension silently, guarding against heart attacks and strokes.

Dosage varies among individuals. Typically, standard capsules come in 5mg and 10mg strengths, taken thrice daily, while slow-release versions range from 10mg to 60mg, taken once or twice daily, depending on your doctor’s directives. Your physician will tailor the dose based on your blood pressure readings and the specific condition being treated.

While Nifedipine is generally well-tolerated, some individuals may experience side effects like headaches, flushing, or swollen ankles. Although these effects usually subside with continued use, it's advisable to avoid grapefruit products as they can exacerbate side effects. In rare cases, severe side effects like yellowing of the skin or eyes, chest pain, or allergic reactions necessitate immediate medical attention.

Nifedipine's safety extends to most adults and occasionally children, under strict medical supervision. However, individuals with certain heart conditions, liver disease, or allergies to the medication should consult their healthcare provider before initiating a Nifedipine regimen.

Adherence to the prescribed regimen is vital. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember, but never double up to compensate for a missed dose. In case of an overdose, symptoms like dizziness, irregular heartbeats, or confusion might arise, necessitating immediate medical intervention.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding? Nifedipine is considered safe. It's passed in minute amounts into breast milk with no known adverse effects on the baby. However, always consult your healthcare provider to assess the risks and benefits in your specific scenario.

Interactions with other medications are a concern. Combining Nifedipine with other blood pressure-lowering drugs or certain antibiotics, antifungals, and antivirals may alter its effectiveness or intensify side effects. Therefore, disclose all medications, including herbal supplements, to your healthcare provider to avoid unfavorable interactions.

If lifestyle modifications like a balanced diet, regular exercise, and stress management are incorporated, they can significantly bolster Nifedipine's effectiveness in managing your cardiovascular health.

In conclusion, Nifedipine is a cornerstone medication in the cardiovascular therapeutic arsenal. Adhering to the prescribed regimen, being cognizant of potential side effects, and maintaining open communication with your healthcare provider are pivotal steps towards harnessing the full benefits of Nifedipine in nurturing a healthier heart and a robust circulatory system.

What is Nitrofurantoin used for? Typical conditions treated, dosing guidelines, side effects
What is Nitrofurantoin used for? Typical conditions treated, dosing guidelines, side effects Side Effects 0 Views • 1 month ago

Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic medication that is primarily used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs). It belongs to a class of drugs called nitrofurans and works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria in the urinary system.

Specifically, nitrofurantoin is effective against a wide range of bacteria commonly found in UTIs, such as Escherichia coli, Enterococcus, Klebsiella, and Staphylococcus aureus. It acts by interfering with the bacterial cell wall synthesis, which ultimately leads to the destruction of the bacteria.

Apart from treating UTIs, nitrofurantoin may also be prescribed for the prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections. In some cases, it might be used to treat other types of infections caused by susceptible bacteria, but this is less common.

It is important to note that nitrofurantoin is not effective against infections caused by viruses, such as the common cold or flu. It is specifically designed to target bacterial infections in the urinary tract.

The dosage and duration of nitrofurantoin treatment can vary depending on the severity and type of infection, as well as individual patient factors. It is typically prescribed as a short-term treatment course, usually ranging from 5 to 7 days.

As with any medication, there may be potential side effects associated with nitrofurantoin use. Common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In rare cases, it may cause more serious side effects, such as pulmonary toxicity or liver problems. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and consult a healthcare professional if any adverse reactions occur.

In conclusion, nitrofurantoin is primarily used to treat urinary tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is an effective antibiotic that targets the bacteria in the urinary system, helping to alleviate symptoms and eradicate the infection. As always, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any medication to ensure its appropriateness for your specific situation."
