Tetracycline - Uses, Dosage, Side Effects - Doctor Explains
Tetracycline - Uses, Dosage, Side Effects - Doctor Explains Side Effects 1 Views • 1 month ago

In this video we will cover everything you need to know about Tetracycline, also known as Ala-Tet, Brodspec or Panmycin.

Generic name: Tetracycline.
Brand names: Ala-Tet, Brodspec or Panmycin.
Available as a capsule, oral suspension, ointment, cream and drops.

How to use it?
- Capsule: swallow the capsule whole with half a glass of water, preferably on an empty stomach.
- Oral suspension: first shake the bottle, afterwards measure the right dose with a syringe or measuring spoon. The oral suspension is mostly used to treat sores in the mouth, therefore hold the liquid in your mouth for 5 minutes. Then spit it out. Do not swallow the oral suspension.
- Cream/Ointment: first clean the infected areas, remove crusts by soaking them in baby oil. Afterwards apply the ointment or cream thinly. If needed you can cover this area with a sterile bandage.
- Drops: Clean your hands, remove any crusts around your eyelids, go stand before a mirror, gently pull down your lower eyelid, bend your head backwards, place the tube above your lower eyelid, squeeze it so the drops will fall into your lower eyelid and than blink a few times.

When to use it?
Tetracycline is an antibiotic which can inhibit the replication of certain bacteria. It can be used to treat infections by microorganisms sensitive to tetracycline, such as infections of:
- The respiratory tract, like a pneumonia.
- Infections of someone's urogenital tract, like STI’s or an urinary tract infection.
- Infections of the skin, like acne.
- Gastrointestinal infections.
- Eye infections.

What is the correct dosage?
The precise dose will depend on your specific indication of use, the side effect you might experience and the severity of your symptoms. Therefore always use the precise amount and frequency your doctor prescribed you.

- However, when treating most infections your doctor will prescribe a capsule of tetracycline of 250mg 4 times a day, which can be increase to a maximum dose of 2 gram per day.
- For eye infections your doctor might prescribe drops: 6 drops/day dripped into your lower eyelids. This dose can be increase up to 1 drop every hour.
- For skin infections your doctor might prescribe you to apply a thin layer of ointment or cream to the affected skin 2–3×/day.

What are common the side-effects?
Skin reactions, rash, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, inflammation of your stomach, itching, liver damage, abnormalities in blood values, burning sensation of the eyes, irritation and pain.

Safety:
First of all there are no limitations for this drug regarding the usage of alcohol or driving a car.
However, it is important you do not consume milk or milk products, such as cheese or yogurt, 2 hours before to 1 hour after taking tetracycline as a capsule. As the lime in these products decreases the effectivity of tetracycline.
Furthermore, tetracycline can have interactions with other drugs your are taking. Always discuss this with your prescribing doctor.
Here it is important to mention that tetracycline can be dangerous for you and your unborn baby during pregnancy. Therefore its use is often strongly discouraged, especially when using capsules.
When breastfeeding tetracycline can often be used safely for a short period (less than 3 weeks). However avoid prolonged use. Always discuss this with your personal doctor.

Is It Safe To Drive After Taking Temazepam? - First Response Medicine
Is It Safe To Drive After Taking Temazepam? - First Response Medicine Side Effects 1 Views • 1 month ago

Is It Safe To Drive After Taking Temazepam? In this informative video, we will discuss the safety concerns associated with driving after taking temazepam, a widely prescribed sedative for insomnia and sleep disorders. We will explore how this medication affects the central nervous system, leading to sedation and potential impairment. Understanding the side effects of temazepam is essential for anyone considering driving after use, as drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired coordination can pose serious risks on the road.

We will also address the phenomenon of "sleep-driving," a dangerous occurrence where individuals may operate a vehicle without full awareness, often with no memory of the event afterward. Additionally, we will highlight the "hangover effect," which can leave you feeling sedated the following day, further increasing the risk of accidents.

Combining temazepam with other depressants, such as alcohol or opioids, can heighten these dangers, making it crucial to avoid mixing substances. Older adults should be particularly wary due to their increased risk of falls and fractures.

For those taking temazepam, following your healthcare provider's guidance is vital. We encourage viewers to prioritize their safety and the safety of others on the road. If you have any concerns about your medication, consult your healthcare provider for tailored advice.

The Ultimate Guide to Temazepam: Uses, Benefits, and Side Effects
The Ultimate Guide to Temazepam: Uses, Benefits, and Side Effects Side Effects 1 Views • 1 month ago

What is Temazepam?.
Temazepam is a medication that is primarily used to treat insomnia. It belongs to a class of drugs known as benzodiazepines, which work by increasing the activity of a neurotransmitter called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. GABA is responsible for decreasing the activity of certain neurons in the brain, which can help to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. Temazepam is available in both generic and brand name versions, including Restoril, Normison, and Temaze.

How Temazepam Works.
As mentioned, Temazepam belongs to a class of drugs known as benzodiazepines. These drugs work by increasing the activity of GABA in the brain, which can help to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. Specifically, Temazepam binds to specific sites on the GABA-A receptor, causing the receptor to become more sensitive to the effects of GABA. This results in an overall decrease in neuronal activity in the brain, which can help to promote sleep.
It's important to note that Temazepam is a short-acting benzodiazepine, which means that it is metabolized quickly by the body. This can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. On the one hand, it means that Temazepam can help individuals fall asleep quickly and stay asleep for a few hours. On the other hand, it also means that the drug can wear off quickly, which can lead to rebound insomnia or other side effects.
Uses of Temazepam.
Temazepam is primarily used to treat insomnia, which is a common sleep disorder characterized by difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Insomnia can be caused by a variety of factors, including stress, anxiety, depression, and certain medical conditions. Temazepam can be an effective treatment for short-term insomnia, but it is generally not recommended for long-term use due to the risk of dependence and other side effects.

Benefits of Temazepam.
The primary benefit of Temazepam is its ability to help individuals fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. This can be especially helpful for individuals who are struggling with insomnia and are having difficulty getting the rest they need. In addition to improving overall sleep quality, Temazepam can also help to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation, which can have a positive impact on overall mood and well-being.
Another benefit of Temazepam is its relatively fast onset of action. Unlike some other sleep aids, which can take several hours to start working, Temazepam typically begins to work within 30 minutes to an hour of taking the medication. This can be especially helpful for individuals who need to fall asleep quickly in order to get a good night's rest.
Dosage and Administration of Temazepam.
The dosage of Temazepam will vary depending on several factors, including the individual's age, weight, and medical history. In general, the recommended starting dose for adults is 15 to 30 milligrams, taken 30 minutes before bedtime. This dose may be increased or decreased based on the individual's response to the medication and any side effects that may occur.
It's important to note that Temazepam should be taken exactly as prescribed by a healthcare provider. The medication should be taken with a full glass of water, and individuals should avoid taking Temazepam with alcohol or other drugs that can cause drowsiness. In addition, Temazepam should not be taken for longer than 7 to 10 days without first consulting with a healthcare provider.
Side Effects of Temazepam.
Like all medications, Temazepam can cause side effects in some individuals. The most common side effects of Temazepam include drowsiness, dizziness, headache, and nausea. These side effects are generally mild and will typically go away on their own as the body adjusts to the medication.
However, in some cases, Temazepam can cause more serious side effects, such as confusion, memory loss, and difficulty breathing. These side effects are relatively rare but can occur in individuals who are taking higher doses of the medication or who have underlying medical conditions. If you experience any of these side effects, it is important to contact a healthcare provider immediately.

BisoT2.5 Tablet | Bisoprolol + Telmisartan | Antihypertensive Drugs | Management of Blood Pressure
BisoT2.5 Tablet | Bisoprolol + Telmisartan | Antihypertensive Drugs | Management of Blood Pressure Side Effects 1 Views • 1 month ago

Disclaimer:- This video is for informational purposes only and not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Please seek the advice of a physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Do not disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of something you have watched on this channel.

Bisoprolol (2.5mg) + Telmisartan (40mg)
Bisot-2.5 Tablet is an antihypertensive medicine used to treat hypertension. Hypertension or high blood pressure is a chronic condition in which the force exerted by the blood against the artery wall is high. As a result, it leads to heart problems, irregular heartbeat, and other complications.

Bisot-2.5 Tablet contains Bisoprolol and telmisartan. Bisoprolol is a beta blocker that acts directly on the heart to lower blood pressure and heart rate. Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). It relaxes blood vessels by inhibiting the angiotensin hormone. When combined, they improve the heart's pumping efficiency and blood flow.

Bisot-2.5 Tablet may cause certain side effects like headache, feeling exhausted, sore back, diarrhoea, congested feeling, and swollen ankles that usually resolve after some time. Prolonged intake of Bisot-2.5 Tablet may lead to a lowering of blood pressure. Take Bisot-2.5 Tablet as prescribed by your doctor.

Do not take Bisot-2.5 Tablet if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor about your medical history and current medication, including herbs and supplements, before starting the treatment with Bisot-2.5 Tablet . This can help reduce side effects/interactions. Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy, are breastfeeding, have liver disease, kidney disease, heart failure, diabetes, heart valve problem or heart attack beforehand.

How Telmisartan Helps Manage High Blood Pressure and Protects Your Heart
How Telmisartan Helps Manage High Blood Pressure and Protects Your Heart Side Effects 1 Views • 1 month ago

High blood pressure is a serious health issue that affects millions of people worldwide. Also known as hypertension, it occurs when the force of blood against the walls of your arteries is consistently too high, leading to potential complications like heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure. Fortunately, there are medications available that can help manage this condition and protect your heart health. One such medication is Telmisartan, a prescription drug that belongs to a class of drugs known as angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs).
Understanding high blood pressure.
Before delving into how Telmisartan works, it's important to understand what high blood pressure is and its effects on the body. Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps it through your body. When your blood pressure is too high, it puts extra strain on your heart and blood vessels, making them work harder than they should. This can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney problems.
High blood pressure is often referred to as the "silent killer" because it usually has no symptoms, and many people may not even know they have it. The only way to know for sure if you have high blood pressure is to have it measured regularly by a healthcare professional. Blood pressure is measured in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) and is recorded as two numbers: systolic pressure (the top number) and diastolic pressure (the bottom number).
What is telmisartan?.
Telmisartan is a prescription medication that belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular problems.
Telmisartan works by blocking the action of a hormone called angiotensin II, which constricts blood vessels and raises blood pressure. By blocking this hormone, Telmisartan helps to relax blood vessels, lower blood pressure, and reduce the strain on the heart. Unlike some other blood pressure medications, Telmisartan does not affect heart rate, so it is less likely to cause unwanted side effects.
How does telmisartan work to manage high blood pressure?.
Telmisartan works by blocking the action of a hormone called angiotensin II, which is responsible for constricting blood vessels and raising blood pressure. Angiotensin II works by binding to receptors on the walls of blood vessels, causing them to narrow and become less flexible. This narrowing of the blood vessels increases the resistance to blood flow, leading to higher blood pressure.
Telmisartan blocks the action of angiotensin II by binding to the same receptors on the walls of blood vessels. By blocking these receptors, Telmisartan prevents the hormone from causing the blood vessels to narrow, allowing them to relax and widen. This widening of the blood vessels reduces the resistance to blood flow, leading to lower blood pressure.
Benefits of telmisartan beyond blood pressure control.
In addition to its blood pressure-lowering effects, Telmisartan has been shown to have other heart-protective benefits. Studies have shown that Telmisartan can reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and heart failure in people with high blood pressure.
One study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that Telmisartan reduced the risk of cardiovascular events like heart attack, stroke, and hospitalization for heart failure by 13% compared to a placebo in people with high blood pressure and additional risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
Another study published in the Lancet found that Telmisartan reduced the risk of stroke, heart attack, and death from cardiovascular causes by 25% compared to a placebo in people with a history of cardiovascular disease or diabetes.
Telmisartan dosage and administration.
Telmisartan is available in tablet form and is typically taken once daily, with or without food. The dosage of Telmisartan varies depending on the individual's blood pressure and other medical conditions. The usual starting dose is 40 mg once daily, but some people may require a higher dose of up to 80 mg once daily.

Telma AM tablet | Telmisartan and Amlodipine tablets ip in hindi Side Effects 1 Views • 1 month ago

Amlodipine+telmisartan belongs to the class of anti-hypertensive drugs, primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Hypertension is a medical condition in which blood pressure is elevated persistently in the arteries. It is considered an essential risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Amlodipine+telmisartan lowers blood pressure by widening and relaxing blood vessels.

Amlodipine+telmisartan is a fixed-dose combination composed of two medicines, namely, Telmisartan and Amlodipine. Telmisartan belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It lowers blood pressure and increases blood flow by preventing the narrowing of blood vessels. It is used to lower the chances of stroke, heart attack, and death. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that dilates (widens) blood vessels and increases blood flow. Altogether, it helps to lower high blood pressure, chest pain (angina), and other conditions caused by coronary artery disease.

Amlodipine+telmisartan is available in the form of oral tablets. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. You can take Amlodipine+telmisartan with or without food once a time in a day, as prescribed by the doctor. Do not crush, chew, or break it. Your doctor will decide the dosage based on your medical condition. In some cases, Amlodipine+telmisartan can cause side effects, primarily peripheral oedema (swelling in legs and arms), a common cold, backache, diarrhoea, dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, rashes, and weakness.

Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's belongs to the class of anti-hypertensives primarily taken to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Hypertension or high blood pressure is a life-long or chronic condition in which the blood pressure against the artery wall becomes too high. It can lead to the risk of heart diseases, like heart attack and stroke.

Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's is a combination of Telmisartan (angiotensin II receptor antagonist) and Chlorthalidone (thiazide diuretic or water pill). Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker that helps to relax and widen the blood vessels (arteries). Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that prevents absorption of excess salt in the body, preventing fluid retention. Together it lowers blood pressure and prevents the risk of any future stroke, heart attack, and oedema (fluid retention).

You can take Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's with food or an empty stomach. It should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Your doctor will advise you on how often you take your tablets based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience dizziness, feeling tired, skin ulcers, diarrhoea, nausea diarrhoea, back pain, and cold/flu symptoms. Most of these side effects of Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Do not use potassium supplements or salt substitutes unless the doctor has told you. In rare cases, Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's can cause a condition that results in a skeletal muscle problem, leading to further kidney failure. If you notice unexplained muscle pain, dark colour urine, tenderness, or weakness, especially if you also have a fever or unexplained tiredness, immediately contact the doctor. If you suspect pregnancy while taking Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's, tell your doctor right away. Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's should not be taken if you are breastfeeding as Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's can pass into breast milk, so before starting Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's, you need to stop nursing or do not take Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's while breastfeeding. Besides this, you should not use the Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's if you are unable to urinate. If you have diabetes, do not use Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's with any medication that contains aliskiren (a blood pressure medicine). Before taking Telmikind-CT 40/6.25 Tablet 10's, tell your doctor if you have ever had liver disease, kidney failure, glaucoma (increased eye pressure), high or low levels of magnesium or potassium in your blood, have allergies or asthma, lupus (an autoimmune disease), diabetes, or an allergy to penicillin or sulfa drugs.

Hidden Secrets of Pharmacology of Telmisartan #telmisartan #pharmacology #telmisartan40mg #youtube

In this video it is described that
Telmisartan is used alone or together with other medicines to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly.
This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. Lowering blood pressure can reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks.
Telmisartan is also used to lower the risk of heart attacks or stroke in patients 55 years of age and older who have diabetes or heart problems.
In this video we will discuss about the mechanism of action, its uses, side effects, interactions, precautions and other pharmacology of telmisartan, so lets start our discussion.
So lets start with Mechanism of action:
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB).
It works by blocking a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten. As a result, telmisartan relaxes the blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.
Uses
This medication is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes,
heart attacks, and kidney problems.
Side Effects
Dizziness or lightheadedness may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. If either of these effects lasts or gets worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
To reduce the risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: fainting,
symptoms of a high potassium blood level (such as muscle weakness,
slow/irregular heartbeat).
Although telmisartan may be used to prevent kidney problems or treat people who have kidney problems, it may also rarely cause serious kidney problems or make them worse. Your doctor will check your kidney function while you are taking telmisartan. Tell your doctor right away if you have any signs of kidney problems such as a change in the amount of urine.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
