your tablet augmentin
Overview
Amoxicillin is oral semisynthetic aminopenicillin similar to ampicillin. Amoxicillin is more stable to gastric acids and more bioavailable than other penicillins. It inhibits the 3rd and final stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins PBPS that are located inside the bacterial cell wall and are responsible for several steps in the synthesis of the cell wall. Chemically Amoxicillin is D-(-)-a-amino-p-hydroxy-benzyl penicillin. Amoxicillin is a broad spectrum antibiotic and has bactericidal activity against many gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Antibiotics require constant drug level in body for therapeutic effect. This is achieved by taking the drug at regular intervals of time throughout the day and night as prescribed. Amoxicillin is important to take the drug for the full time period as prescribed. If you discontinue the drug it may result in ineffective treatment.

Indications
Amoxicillin is primarily indicated in conditions like Abscesses, Acute bronchitis, Bacteriuria, Bronchitis, Carbuncles, Cellulitis, Chronic bron- chitis, Cystitis, Dental abscess, Dental abscess (short-course), Endocarditis, Furunculosis, Gon- orrhoea, Gynecological infections, Haemophilus influenzae infections, Helicobacter pylori eradication, Infected wounds, Inflammatory bowel disease, Lower respiratory tract infections, Meningitis, Metastatic, Metastatic colorectal cancer, Mild to moderate chronic heart failure, Muscle relaxation (short duration) for surgery, Muscle relaxation during intensive care, Muscle relaxation for surgery or intubation, Osteomyelitis, Otitis media, Parathyroid fever, Peritonitis, Pharyngitis, Pneumonia, Puerperal sepsis, Pyelonephritis, Septic abortion, Septicaemia, Sinusitis, Skin infections, Soft tissue infections, Surgical infections, Syphilis, Systemic infections, Tonsillitis, Typhoid, Urinary tract infection.

Quercetin Benefits - Brain Health + Antiviral + Anti-inflammatory
Quercetin Benefits - Brain Health + Antiviral + Anti-inflammatory Side Effects 1 Views • 2 months ago

Quercetin benefits are so many that it's my go-to bioflavonoid 🥇 I use it primarily as an anithistamine to help control the typical allergic response in my patients with Adrenal Fatigue.

Quercetin is packed with so many other powerful beneficial effects on the dysfunctional physiology my patients have. It's an antioxidant, an anti-inflammatory, and a direct antiviral.

Its neuroprotective effects help to rewire and heal the brain 🧠 It also has a calming effect (goodbye anxiety!) and helps to expedite the healing process.

This healing and rewiring of the brain is a key component of our stress physiology, which has to be healed and rewired to get out of that constant fight-or-fight physiology of Adrenal Fatigue and back into parasympathetic physiology 🥰 where patients can heal and thrive.

Are There Side Effects Of Psyllium Husk? - Women's Health and Harmony Side Effects 1 Views • 2 months ago

Are There Side Effects Of Psyllium Husk? In this informative video, we discuss the potential side effects of psyllium husk, a popular natural fiber supplement. Psyllium husk is often used to support digestive health by helping to form softer and bulkier stools, making it easier to pass. However, like any supplement, it can come with some surprises, especially for those who are new to it.

We cover common side effects such as gas and bloating, which can occur as the fiber ferments in the gut. Additionally, abdominal discomfort may arise as your body adjusts to increased fiber intake. We also touch on how psyllium husk can sometimes lead to constipation or diarrhea, depending on water intake and individual responses.

For those with specific health concerns, including kidney issues, consulting a healthcare provider before adding psyllium to your routine is essential. We also provide tips on how to manage side effects effectively, including the importance of hydration and gradually introducing the supplement into your diet.

Decongestant Nasal Spray Addiction (Afrin, Zicam, Sinex, Neo-Synephrine, etc)
Decongestant Nasal Spray Addiction (Afrin, Zicam, Sinex, Neo-Synephrine, etc) Side Effects 1 Views • 2 months ago

Decongestant nasal sprays are common over-the-counter medications to open up clogged nasal passages and alleviate nasal congestion. Examples of popular decongestant nasal sprays include afrin, zicam, sinex, neo-synephrine, etc. Decongestant nasal sprays accomplish symptom relief by chemically constricting the blood vessels thereby reducing the blood flow into the nose. With reduced blood flow, any mucosal swelling decreases alleviating congestion and improving nasal airflow. After a period of time, the medication wears off allowing the blood vessels to open back up and increasing blood flow into the nose again. Unfortunately, increased blood flow means the nasal mucosa will swell again causing recurrence of congestion and reduced nasal airflow. As such, the decongestant nasal spray will often be used again to alleviate nasal symptoms. Problem is that with prolonged chronic daily use, the need to continue and more frequently use this nasal spray will be required in order to achieve symptom relief. In a sense, the nose becomes addicted to the nasal spray.

This condition is known as rhinitis medicamentosa or rebound congestion.

Please note that saline, steroid, and anti-histamine nasal sprays are safe to use daily for prolonged periods of time (ie, flonase, nasacort, rhinocort, astepro, etc). It's ONLY the decongestant nasal sprays that are not safe to use for more than 3 consecutive days (can repeat after 3 weeks break).

Pantoprazole Tablets: Uses, Dosage, Mechanism, Side Effects, and Essential Advice | MediInsights
Pantoprazole Tablets: Uses, Dosage, Mechanism, Side Effects, and Essential Advice | MediInsights Side Effects 1 Views • 2 months ago

Welcome to MediInsights, where we unlock the wonders of wellness. In today’s video, we’ll delve into the comprehensive details about Pantoprazole tablets. This medication is widely used to manage and treat various acid-related stomach issues, and it’s important to understand its uses, dosage, mechanism of action, side effects, and essential advice for optimal use. Let’s get started!

Use of Pantoprazole Tablets:
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that effectively reduces stomach acid production. It is primarily prescribed for conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and erosive esophagitis. Additionally, it is used to prevent and treat stomach ulcers caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and Helicobacter pylori infections when combined with antibiotics.

Dosage of Pantoprazole Tablets:
The dosage of Pantoprazole can vary based on the condition being treated. For GERD, the standard dosage is 40 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks. Maintenance therapy often involves a 20 mg dose once daily. For Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, the initial dosage is typically 40 mg twice daily, adjusted as needed. Pantoprazole tablets should be swallowed whole, with or without food, and never crushed or chewed.

Mechanism of Action of Pantoprazole Tablets:
Pantoprazole works by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system, commonly known as the proton pump, in the gastric parietal cells. This action blocks the final step of acid production in the stomach, leading to a significant reduction in gastric acidity. By doing so, Pantoprazole facilitates the healing of acid-related damage and provides relief from associated symptoms.

Side Effects of Pantoprazole Tablets:
While Pantoprazole is generally well-tolerated, some common side effects include headaches, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and flatulence. Rare but serious side effects may include severe allergic reactions, vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use, hypomagnesemia, Clostridium difficile infection, and an increased risk of bone fractures.

Important Advice for Using Pantoprazole Tablets:
Always take Pantoprazole exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
Do not extend the duration of use beyond the recommended period without consulting your doctor.
Inform your healthcare provider about any other medications or supplements you are taking, as Pantoprazole can interact with certain drugs.
Immediately report any severe or unusual side effects to your healthcare provider.
Long-term users should be monitored for potential complications such as magnesium or B12 deficiencies.
Implement lifestyle changes, such as dietary modifications and weight management, to enhance the effectiveness of Pantoprazole in managing your condition.

Pantoprazole (Protonix) - Uses, Side Effects, Dosage, Safety
Pantoprazole (Protonix) - Uses, Side Effects, Dosage, Safety Side Effects 1 Views • 2 months ago

In this video we will cover everything you need to know about Pantoprazole, also known as Protonix. We will discuss how and when to use it, we will cover its side effects, dosage and much, much more.

Generic name: Pantoprazole.
Brand names: Protonix.
Available as a tablet and as an injection.

How to use it?
- Tablet: swallow it whole with half a glass of water. These tablets are covered with a protective film, therefore you should not break them or bite on them. As this will decrease their effectivity.
- Injection: your doctor or nurse will place the injection. Usually you do not need to do this yourself.

Here it is important to mention you can take pantoprazole at any time of the day, but it is best to do so at fixed times. This will make you less likely to forget a dose.

When to use it?
Pantoprazole is part of a group of drugs called, proton-pump inhibitors. These drugs selectively inhibit the production of stomach acid. Therefore Pantoprazole can be used to treat:
- Heartburn also called Gastroesophageal reflux disease.
- An inflammation of your gullet/esophagus.
- An ulcer in your stomach or intestines
- Infection of the H. Pylori bacteria.

What is the correct dosage?
The precise dose will depend on your specific indication of use, the side effect you might experience and the severity of your symptoms. Therefore always use the precise amount and frequency your doctor prescribed you.
- However, when treating GERD your doctor might prescribe a dose of 40mg 1x day for 4-8 weeks. If necessary this dose can be increase to 40mg 2x per day.
- For the treatment of an ulcer in your stomach or intestines your doctor might prescribe the same dose of 40mg 1x day for 4-8 weeks. Which again, can be increase to 40mg 2x per day if necessary.
- And when treating an H. Pylori infection your doctor might prescribe you 40mg 2x per day for 1-2 weeks, in combination with several antibiotics.

What are the side-effects?
- Common (1-10%): gastric polyps.
Uncommon (0.1-1%): sleep disturbances, headache, dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, bloating, constipation, dry mouth, abdominal pain, skin rash, itching, fatigue and fractures.
Rare (0.01-0.1%): hypersensitivity, weight change, depression, visual impairment, taste disorder, elevated body temperature and edema.
Very rare (0.01%): changes in your blood values.

Safety:
First of all, pantoprazole can cause dizziness or blurry vision. If you experience any of these, then please do not drive as this could be dangerous.
Furthermore, combining pantoprazole with alcohol, can increase its side effects. So take proper care when doing so.
In addition, pantoprazole can have interactions with other drugs your are taking. always discuss this with your prescribing doctor.
Lastly, the available medical evidence shows that pantoprazole seems to be safe to use for pregnant women and women who are breastfeeding, however there are some exceptions. Therefore always discuss this with your doctor.

In this video, we discuss a critical topic: the length of time anesthesia stays in the body post-surgery. We focus on specific factors such as the type of anesthesia used, the kind of surgery performed, the pre-existing mental health state, and the history of substance use, including marijuana or cannabis.

Key anesthetics like Propofol, Fentanyl, Remifentanil, Sufentanil, Hydromorphone, and Midazolam are addressed. The decision to use and the dosage of these anesthetics hinge on individual patient requirements and the type of surgery. The dosage influences the duration these anesthetics stay in the body, how quickly they metabolize, and how long it takes for the patient to regain consciousness post-anesthesia.

The type of surgery significantly affects anesthesia duration in the body. Cardiac surgeries and neurosurgeries, for instance, necessitate higher doses of anesthesia due to their complex and lengthy nature. The larger dosage subsequently requires a longer period for the body to metabolize and redistribute the anesthesia.

Neurosurgery, in particular, merits a closer look. As these operations directly impact the brain, an organ that takes a longer time to recover due to its complexity, a higher anesthetic dosage is required. This requirement inevitably leads to a more extended wake-up period from the anesthesia. The body must redistribute and metabolize the high drug concentrations, and the brain needs to re-establish its usual functions after the invasive procedure.

The mental health state of a patient before surgery also affects anesthesia use. Patients with more anxiety or unresolved PTSD often need higher anesthesia dosages and subsequently experience a longer wake-up time. These conditions may also increase the risk of emergence delirium, a state of confusion that can occur post-anesthesia, further extending the recovery period.

Additionally, a history of substance use, particularly marijuana or cannabis, influences the dosage and metabolism of anesthesia. Frequent marijuana users may need more anesthetics due to increased tolerance, extending the time for recovery as the body works to metabolize the higher dosage.

Each patient responds to anesthesia differently, and these variables make it challenging to predict the exact recovery time post-anesthesia accurately. Providing complete and accurate medical history aids healthcare providers in administering appropriate care.

This video is a deep dive into the world of anesthesia and its journey in the body. We examine how various factors can influence its effects, its metabolization, and its significant impact on patient care and recovery. For specific advice regarding your health, consult with your healthcare professional.

How Anesthesia Affects Your Brain And Body
How Anesthesia Affects Your Brain And Body Side Effects 1 Views • 2 months ago

Millions of Americans are administered anesthesia each year. Since 1846, doctors have used a variety of drugs to make patients unconscious for surgery, but even though the medications have changed, there's one thing that remains the same— it works. But how exactly?

Following is the transcript of the video:

Narrator: When you go to sleep, if I pinched you, you'd be up. If I shook you, you'd be up, right? But under anesthesia, I'm gonna pinch you and do a full operation and you're not up. So it's really further on the spectrum of unconsciousness.

Narrator: When you wake up after being put under with general anesthesia you barely feel like any time has passed. You could have been out for an hour or a day and you wouldn't know the difference.

Fong: When you go to a natural sleep, people call your name, your alarm goes off, you wake up, right? This is not what is gonna happen during general anesthesia. You're gonna be unconscious.

Narrator: You're closer to being in a coma than being asleep.

Anesthesia was first used during surgery in 1846. The drug provided at that time was ether. Now anesthesiologists more commonly use a combination of drugs like propofol and fentanyl which interrupt neural pathways so you don't feel pain and you don't remember the surgery.

Fong: Three things that you need for general anesthesia are you need amnesia so that they don't remember, analgesia so they have pain relief and then operating conditions for the surgeon. Some surgeries you need the patient to be very relaxed so you would use a muscle relaxant. Other surgeries the patient just needs to be asleep and anesthetized but they don't need relaxation so how they do that varies upon the different medications that you're using. Some will depress excitatory neurons and some will enhance inhibitory neurons.

Narrator: Excitatory neurons, for example, get excited and send signals to other neurons to fire. Depressing them means less signals telling your brain you're in pain. Inhibitory neurons do the opposite. They make it harder for neurons to generate these electrical signals. In either case this means fewer active neurons overall which is important because when your body is being poked and prodded, neurons would typically fire to tell your brain you're in pain. If those neurons aren't firing, your brain doesn't know that your body is, well, being cut open.

Fong: Basically it interrupts the pathways and the communication between your neural networks. We're aiming for them to be not in pain by looking at their vital signs, their heart rate, their blood pressure. Then we want to make sure that they're unconscious.

Narrator: Without anesthesia, many important surgeries wouldn't be possible because they'd be way too traumatic.

Fong: Surgery didn't move forward, really, until anesthesia moved forward. You know, you watch those old movies. They give you a swig of alcohol, they put a tourniquet and they hack your leg off. People don't do well with that, right? If you had a bad heart, that would be the end of that.

Narrator: After the procedure is complete the doctors stop administering the meds and the most powerful effects of the drugs wear off but even though you're conscious again you might continue to experience some of the drugs side effects.
