Vicodin is a powerful prescription pain medication that is commonly used to manage moderate to severe pain. It is a combination of hydrocodone, an opioid pain medication, and acetaminophen, a non-opioid pain medication. The drug works by changing the way the brain and body respond to pain.

While Vicodin can be highly effective in managing pain, it is important to understand that it is a powerful and potentially addictive medication. The opioid component of the drug can lead to physical dependence, and if misused, can lead to addiction and overdose.

It is crucial for patients to use Vicodin as directed by their healthcare provider and to never take more than the prescribed dosage. The medication should be taken orally and can be taken with or without food. It is important to take the medication at the same time each day and to never crush, chew or break the tablet.

Vicodin can cause a number of side effects, including drowsiness, nausea, and dizziness. These side effects are generally mild and short-lived. However, if the side effects persist or are severe, patients should contact their healthcare provider.

Patients who have a history of substance abuse, mental health conditions such as depression or anxiety, or liver or kidney problems should inform their healthcare provider before taking Vicodin. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should also inform their healthcare provider as the medication may not be appropriate for them.

It is important to note that Vicodin is a controlled substance and has a high potential for abuse and addiction. Therefore, it should be used only under the close supervision of a healthcare provider and never be shared with others.

In conclusion, Vicodin is a powerful prescription pain medication that can effectively manage moderate to severe pain. However, it is important to understand the risks and benefits of the medication and to use it as directed by a healthcare provider. Patients should inform their healthcare provider of any medical conditions or history of substance abuse, and should never share the medication with others. If you have any concerns or questions about the use of Vicodin, it is always best to consult with your healthcare provider.

FDA approves Veozah, new drug to battle menopausal hot flashes
FDA approves Veozah, new drug to battle menopausal hot flashes Side Effects 2 Views • 1 month ago

The FDA has approved a new drug meant to deal with menopausal hot flashes.

Diane Hoard's menopause symptoms started at age 50, and sometimes became debilitating.

"They were happening every half hour, all day and all night," she says. "They were relentless."

Her hot flashes impact her concentration, sleep, and even work.

"You're worried about when it's going to happen and you're miserable while it's happening," she told 3News, "and you can't just get up and walk away," Diane said.

Estrogen therapy worked wonders, but Hoard had to stop after a breast cancer diagnosis. Her menopause symptoms came back with a vengeance.

"Most days, I feel like a train wreck," she said.

That's why she was thrilled to learn about Veozah. The FDA last Friday approved the drug to treat menopausal hot flashes in women who can't or choose not to do Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

"I'm grateful that somebody put some time and effort in something that's usually just blown aside," Diane said.

HRT is more than 90% effective in chilling hot flashes. Veozah worked 48% of the time in women on a higher dose and 36% for those on a low dose, but it only works on hot flashes, not the myriad of other symptoms that come with menopause.

Veozah: The new nonhormonal drug for hot flashes | Felice Gersh, MD
Veozah: The new nonhormonal drug for hot flashes | Felice Gersh, MD Side Effects 2 Views • 1 month ago

There's a new drug, Veozah, coming out that effectively treats hot flashes and night sweats and improves sleep for women in menopause. This nonhormonal pharmaceutical is a much needed medication that will help many women who are not candidates for estrogen replacement.

But this is a small subset of all the menopausal women who suffer from hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms. My concern is that women who are candidates for hormone replacement therapy will be enticed to use this nonhormonal drug because of misinformed and outdated fears over estrogen.

Estrogen is good for you! Unless you have an estrogen-positive cancer, you should almost certainly be on estrogen if you are in perimenopause or menopause. Estrogen benefits every organ and system in the female body. This new drug blocks hot flashes, but it does not protect your heart, eyes, brain, skin, bones, hair...the list goes on and on. And it's only been tested for 12 weeks. We don't know what the long term effects will be yet. Oh, and it's not yet covered by insurance.

So, if you can't take estrogen and you have hot flashes, check out Veozah. But if you are in perimenopause or menopause and you don't have any contraindications for HRT, please take estrogen to protect your whole body health.

Doctor explains Zopiclone | Uses, doses, side effects and more [Educational guide]
Doctor explains Zopiclone | Uses, doses, side effects and more [Educational guide] Side Effects 2 Views • 1 month ago

In this video Doctor O'Donovan explains key things you need to know about zopiclone - a sleeping aid medication that is used commonly to treat insomnia.

Other names for Zopiclone are Imovane.

Zopiclone is a type of sleeping pill that can be taken for short-term treatment of severe insomnia.

It helps you fall asleep more quickly, and also helps stop you waking up during the night. It works by affecting a calming chemical in your brain called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

Zopiclone comes as tablets. It also comes as a liquid for people who find it hard to swallow tablets, but your doctor will have to order this specially.

This medicine is only available on prescription.

Key facts

1. Zopiclone takes around 1 hour to work.
2. It's usually prescribed for just 2 to 4 weeks. This is because your body gets used to it quickly and after this time it's unlikely to have the same effect. Your body can also become dependent on it.
3. Common side effects are a metallic taste in your mouth, a dry mouth, and daytime sleepiness.
4. Do not drink alcohol while you're on zopiclone. Having them together can make you go into a deep sleep where you find it difficult to wake up.
5. If zopiclone makes you feel sleepy in the daytime, do not drive a car, ride a bike or use machinery.

**‘Reporting of side effects**

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in the package leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at [a website address which links directly to the MHRA Yellow Card site].

By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.’

Fertilix 300mg Softgel Uses | Side Effects & Dosage 💊
Fertilix 300mg Softgel Uses | Side Effects & Dosage 💊 Side Effects 2 Views • 1 month ago

Fertilix 300mg Softgel | Uses, Side Effects, Dosage, Review

Fertilix 300mg is a medication containing ursodeoxycholic acid, known for its effectiveness in dissolving cholesterol-based gallstones and preventing their recurrence. It is also used to manage primary biliary cholangitis, a chronic liver disease characterized by inflammation and damage to bile ducts. Symptoms of this condition may include yellow or white bumps under the skin, dark urine, and abdominal pain. Additionally, this medication is beneficial for children aged 6-18 years with liver and biliary diseases linked to cystic fibrosis. It functions as a liver protectant by lowering cholesterol levels in the blood, thus aiding in the dissolution of gallstones and enhancing liver function by safeguarding liver cells from the harmful effects of toxic bile acid. Common side effects include pasty stools or diarrhea, which should be monitored. It is essential to consult a doctor before use, especially for those with existing liver issues, and to undergo regular liver function tests during treatment. Pregnant women should avoid this medication unless deemed necessary, and those of childbearing age should employ effective non-hormonal contraceptives. Overall, Fertilix 300mg serves multiple therapeutic purposes while requiring careful monitoring and consultation with healthcare professionals.
